Xmas: Man reportedly falls with his head inside bin, dies, after taking alcohol
Residents of Naibertre in Ainabkoi Constituency have been dumbfounded after discovering a body of a middle-aged man inside a dustbin Friday morning.
According to witnesses, the 43-year-old man was last seen in the company of his fellow drivers on Thursday evening enjoying a drink at the centre in Uasin Gishu County.
Preliminary details from the police indicated that the deceased who works at a farm in plateau area might have drunk more than he could manage and ended up falling into the dustbin situated at the Naiberi Centre.
Speaking on phone, Eldoret East OCPD Richard Omanga confirmed the incident saying the deceased must have died after heavy drinking during the festive season.
“At the site, the man fell with his head first inside the bin, a clear indication that he might have choked and due to the position he fell. He also vomited due to the alcohol content,” he said.
“There were no injuries and that is why we are not suspecting any foul play. The body is currently at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) mortuary,” he added.
Omanga cautioned citizens against overindulgence in alcohol during the festive season urging them to do it with moderation.
“During the festive season, it is imperative that Kenyans take care, they should not overdo just because they are in a celebratory mood. They should remember that life is precious,” he said.
The incident comes a week after police foiled an attempted robbery at Tamarind area and gunned down one suspect.
The suspect is alleged to have plotted to steal from one of the houses before locals sounded an alarm that eventually saw police respond.
“We have beefed security in the area and our wish is that locals assist us in providing information so that we can be able to assist them during this festive season,” added Omanga.
